Peace Day
an article by Cheryl Nguyen
On Monday, October 14, 2002, an important event will take
place at The Learning Corridor Hartford from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM. There,
people will gather at the doors, and join the workshops that all have
the same mission...to TEACH YOUTH and ADULTS alternatives to war/other
means of violence for peace. Why should you come? If you need to be
more informed of other ways of peace rather than the traditional war
style, if you want to understand more about war OR if you just want to
come to support us! *ALL REASONS ARE FINE, just come!
I believe
this is a great opportunity for people of all ages to come as one, to
unite themselves against general violence, and to increase the peace.
This method of "peacemaking" (war) been introduced to kids through
their schools and through their parents. It's time we learned that
there are many more succesful ways to create peace.
On Peace
Day, all ages will join to enjoy music and attend fun filled classes
made for peaceful consequences to broaden our horizons and make a
brighter future. Just a few of these classess or workshops are: Help
Increase the Peace (HIP), What the Textbooks Don't Tell us, Military
Recruiting in Schools, Drumming/Singing, Sowing Peace, and Inner Peace
Through Yoga.

Please come, for this is an invitation to all!!! We won't reject you even if you do not have enough money to enter!!!

NON-VIOLENCE
Latest reader comment:
I'm
sure that nonviolent means can guarantee peace, at least for one day.
All the peace keys were followed on Peace Day, October 14. The drumming
sent a powerful message about solidarity. The drums were diverse as
well as the drummers. This was one of the few occasions in recent memory where young and old listened to each other with respect.
