Boxer Confronts Rice at Senate Confirmation Hearing
an article by Joanne Tawfilis
Day One, of the U.S. Senate hearings to confirm
Condoleeza Rice as Secretary of State for President Bush's second term,
will go down in history books. On this day, one brave and courageous US
Senator exhibited the spirit that we have yearned for throughout the
entire past four years. The Senator, Barbara Boxer of California leaned
forward in her chair and dared to ask pointed questions regarding the
administrations lack of consistency and changing of reasons for the
pre-emptive strike against Iraq and the on going lack of an exit
strategy.
Boxer’s courage will inspire citizens to exercise their
democratic rights and question actions and policies that are not
substantiated by facts and truths. Due to the outcome of the election,
that baffled the entire world outside the US mainland, it will be more
important than ever to hold public officials accountable for their
actions when public trust is vested in them.
Readers are encouraged to go to the following website to view and hear
the video clip of Senator Boxer's willingness to exemplify the
website's title "In The Clearing Stands A Boxer".

I
hope that Barbara Boxer will continue to "speak truth to power". The
9/11 Commission's report and the part that was withheld from the public
until today seems to back up Boxer's statements.
