Two Free Videos for Relationship-Building Worldwide
an article by Libby and Len Traubman
In response to the question, "What is the best way to teach
peace?," here are two how-to documentary films. They are now available
without cost worldwide to demonstrate and teach a new quality of
listening and successful communication between diverse citizens – even
"enemies."
PEACEMAKERS: Palestinians & Jews Together at Camp (83 mins) - http://traubman.igc.org/vidcamp.htm
The partnership of a Palestinian-Jewish Dialogue and 85-year-old camp
brings together in the California mountains 140 Muslims, Jews and
Christians of all ages, including from Israel and Palestine. They
discover one another and their ability to communicate and cooperate in
new ways. Back down the mountain, they hold a public San Francisco
event to tell the community about their struggles and breakthroughs.
DIALOGUE AT WASHINGTON HIGH (43 mins) - http://traubman.igc.org/vidschool.htm
A Jewish and a Palestinian exemplar model how to connect with
the "other" beginning with personal Story. Tenth grade high school
students then engage each other in dyads with a new quality of
listening. The diverse youth speak about their new way of
communicating.

teachers, facilitators and other interested citizens on any continent
upon request. Trailers and contact information are on the films' Web

SCHOOLS AND PEACE EDUCATION
LATEST READER COMMENT:
Maria
Montessori believed that peace was innate within children. Her timeless
educational philosophy was developed around this basic understanding.
Perhaps all we need to do as teachers is to provide stimulating
learning environments that validate this knowing and understanding and
nurture it. We may not have to actually teach it, Sharing
peace-building stories gently attends to this. Strong, creative and
imaginative peace-building characters who focus upon win-win and have
faith in peace being possible are at the centre of the story plots. In
Hassaun Ali-Jones Bey's (Boundless Gratitude http://boundlessgratitude.com/products.html
) unique and mesmerising story, Black Ink is such a character who
bravely crosses the universe seeking validation of what he knows in his
heart.. . ...more.
