U.S. Association for the University for Peace
an article by Nick Martin
The U.S. Association for the University for Peace (UPEACE/US) is
pleased to announce the launch of its new website: www.upeaceus.org.
The site offers interactive web 2.0 features like videos, blogs,
photos, and even an e-store for special contributions and logo
merchandise. Our staff & volunteers built the entire website from
scratch without the help of a developer using a content management
system called Joomla. Check it out for information on the latest
developments in all of our UPEACE/US programs and events as well as
updates on UPEACE worldwide activities.
UPEACE/US projects include DCPEACE, an initiative to empower
teachers, youth, and families with the skills and knowledge necessary
to effectively serve as peacebuilders in their communities, and
PeaceRooms, a program that connects classrooms of students from Costa
Rica and Washington D.C. through the use of innovative virtual
networking technology for the purpose of developing core concepts of
global citizenship and peace education.
If you interested in learning more about our work or would
like to get involved and provide ideas, relationships or resources,
please email Nick Martin at nmartin@upeaceus.org. Finally, please join
us later this month for fundraisers with Pizza Hut (April 8th) and
California Tortilla (April 29th) in Washington D.C A percentage of
sales go to support our peace education programming in the DC
elementary schools. More information is on our events page.
Visit the site here: www.upeaceus.org
