Goals Are Set by the Curitiba Municipal Council for the Culture of Peace

COMPAZ, the Municipal Council for the Culture of Peace of Curitiba, Brazil, has announced its goals on their blogsite.

Here is a rough translation:

a) to elaborate its Internal rules;

b) to contribute studies that include the culture of the peace in the Public administration;

c) to stimulate the creation of methodologies for an education directed toward the culture of the peace;

d) to offer mediation in conflicts of interests of any nature, condemning violent actions, guiding and formulating peaceful solutions;

e) to collaborate in the stimulation of community projects for the development of the culture of peace;

f) to receive, to analyze and to implement, if approved by the Council, requests for culture of peace initiatives and to give guidance to the municipal agency involved;

g) to present and to give publicity to programs that contribute to the culture of peace whether municipal, state, national or world-wide;

h) to listen to religious entities and traditions of all sectors of society, that have as an objective the culture of peace;

i) to follow the projects of law in all government spheres that can promote the culture of peace and to contribute suggestions on them;

j) to collaborate with all government agencies in the analysis of situations of conflicts that involve cultures of peace, giving emphasis the General Office of the Attorney General of the City;

k) to promote seminars, symposiums, congresses, debates, meeting, lectures, audiences with the objective to stimulate, to divulge, to debate, to demystify the practices of diverse religious traditions in order to promote attitudes of the culture of peace;

l) when requested by the Executive, to indicate a member of the Council chosen by vote, to represent the City in events of the culture of peace.
