an article by Helena Lourenço, ABrasOFFA

Video: Brazil Folklore Festival 2013

Dear friends,

At the Brazilian Association of Organizers of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (ABrasOFFA), we are once again holding the Brazil FestInFolk-2013, with Folklore Groups from Argentina, Chile, Indonesia and Venezuela as well as Brazil.

Our goal is to bring people together to achieve a common good that is peace. With this idea in mind, we began hosting festivals of performing artists, and this year we celebrate our 26th year of bringing Folklore Groups from around the world.

Different cultures with very diverse customs and traditions together make up a beautiful design. In their show of dance and folk music of every people, they maintain and win Peace.

The Culture of Peace and Non-violence is promoted every day on the project as the groups meet, exchange experiences and values of friendliness, good practice, and making peace between peoples.

During the 15 days of the Festival the folk groups live together and take their art and a taste of their country on visits to schools. In this way, they allow the students to experience peace through dance and music. The students experience different customs, politics, and religions which makes for tolerance and which creates a bridge between different peoples. In this way, the search for peace becomes more real each day.
