The People’s World Peace Project (PWWP) aims to provide a public news source for the millions of people interested in building a more peaceful, just and sustainable world. We want to give readers an alternative to the corporate media, an alternative that presents the real challenges that must be confronted and offers a solutions-oriented world peace news coverage. Based on the idea that civil society must push governments to be for all people, and not simply the powerful, the site will offer updates on the activities of the thousands of organizations that are gradually building a culture of peace.

PWPP, working with its media partners, national and local NGOs and individual peace makers, will post articles and other content on www.PWPP.org that helps foster a culture of peace and acknowledge people who are working toward the betterment of the world around them. News will be continually collected from the sites of media partners and sources of information around the world. This news is organized by using UNESCOs bases for a culture of peace. Staff and readers will use social media to help awareness of the connections among the bases and develop organizational connections and common actions.

The PWPP project seeks to contribute to our sense of common humanity, promote global citizenship, and inspire concerted effort to achieve peace by raising awareness and connections among the many people who are dedicated to creating peace and justice. We hope that the communication made possible by the Internet will provide a pathway for world peace, as people from all parts of the world and walks of life have the opportunity to work in concert to influence how world peace is accomplished and maintained.

As the site develops we hope it will be able to provide a framework for the exchange of information among those working to establish peace with justice both locally and globally. We hope that it may be able to foster communication and dialogue among those who have different perspectives on ways to achieve peace and justice, and be able to furnish a base for the collaborations and unified action needed for the attainment of peace with justice.
